Catching Up
OK, OK...it's been a while since I've posted here. That's why we've named this entry "Catching Up."
This Thanksgiving my parents drove up to spend the holidays with us. They were here for Thanksgiving and we're so happy that they're staying through Christmas and New Years while looking at houses. It was just the five of us for Thanksgiving but it was wonderful. I managed to get a good deal on a twenty pound turkey so we ate a bit late due to the cooking time. A good time was had by all, and mom and dad brought some really good wine from their trip to Napa the month before.
Can I just say one thing? Thank God for washable markers.
The day after Thanksgiving we took Clare to get her hair cut. Her bangs were really getting in her face so we took her to a cute little boutique that caters to children. She wasn't used to it so she refused to let the woman put a cape on her. Eventually the job got done though and we both like the results.
For some reason, whenever I get Clare's hair full of suds I need to start making silly shapes with it. This is a kind of "Gumby-Do" that she liked as much as me. Too bad we couldn't make it look like this every day, eh?
Last Tuesday we recieved a fair amount of snow that managed to stick to the ground due to the cold. We had sub-freezing temperatures for 6 days until today when if finally warmed up a bit. We had snow Tuesday night and Wednesday and then we woke up Saturday to more snow falling. Of course that can only mean one thing: SLEDDING!
We have a nice, little hill across the street at the lake that the little kids like to sled down. We grabbed the sled and bundled up and walked over for a few runs. Clare didn't want to go at first, so I went down the first run solo. She IMMEDIATELY wanted to go after that, so we climbed aboard and she giggled the whole way down. She was saying "more" before we even stopped. After that I wanted Debra to take her but Debra wanted to go solo too so she knew what to expect. That's a nice shot of Debra going on a skeleton run on her belly, eh? .
Once Debra went down she was ready to go tandem with Clare. Again, Clare laughed and giggled the whole way. Here they are coming back up the hill after a succesful ride.
After a while, Clare wanted to go down the hill by herself. We got a great piece of video on her "maiden voyage" down the hill solo.
Towards the end of the day I started dragging Clare up the hill and was glad I wasn't breathing too hard. I think we're finally aclimated to living a mile above sea level.
Of course Nana and Poppa couldn't let us be the only ones having fun so they took a run too.
